Dickie's Digest — Mark Cuban, Marc Andreessen, and The Last Dance
Is Mark Cuban running for President? Will Marc Andreessen's essay be a seminal moment? Are we prepared for The Last Dance?
Hi there 👋🏻👋🏻

Must-Listens
The Pomp Podcast | Mark Cuban, Cathie Wood, and Jim Bianco
The Pomp Podcast is on fire. Week after week, Pomp is churning out headline interviews with some of the best thinkers. This week I listened to three episodes — Mark Cuban, Cathie Wood, and Jim Bianco
Mark Cuban — Mark Cuban is on a media blitz. He's been on CNBC, Recode Decode, CNN, and now the Pomp Podcast all in the last week. Cuban is laying the foundation for a late-stage Presidential run with the slogan America 2.0.
Cathie Wood — Cathie Wood is the CEO of ARK Invest, a long-only technology-focused hedge fund. One of the most progressive and innovative thinkers on Wall Street, Cathie presents her big ideas on the future of payments, transportation, biotechnology, and robotics. Her Big Ideas 2020 Chart Deck dives into each of her views in more detail.
Jim Bianco — Jim Bianco is the CEO of Bianco Research, a boutique macro research firm. Jim talks about the incredible actions taken by the Federal Reserve, supply chains pivoting from efficiency to resiliency, and his outlook for the 2020 election.

IT'S TIME TO BUILD — Marc Andreessen
Netscape founder and Internet pioneer Marc Andreessen penned an essay that reads like a wartime call-to-action. America dominated the early 20th century because we chose to build. But a smug complacency has plagued American innovation for the last 20 years. Health care, education, manufacturing, transportation— these industries haven't changed in 20 years, why? This essay jolted me awake thinking about the potential for innovation in the next decade.
Every step of the way, to everyone around us, we should be asking the question, what are you building? What are you building directly, or helping other people to build, or teaching other people to build, or taking care of people who are building .... Our nation and our civilization were built on production, on building. Our forefathers and foremothers built roads and trains, farms and factories, then the computer, the microchip, the smartphone, and uncounted thousands of other things that we now take for granted, that are all around us, that define our lives and provide for our well-being. There is only one way to honor their legacy and to create the future we want for our own children and grandchildren, and that’s to build.

The Best NBA Playoff Games to Watch While Sports Are Shut Down
Yesterday was supposed to be the first day of the 2020 NBA playoffs. With no restart to the season in sight, FiveThirtyEight is helping us get our basketball fix. They gathered all of the most epic full games and highlights across YouTube all in one place. You can toggle a few switches and BOOM, they present you with the best games and highlights to rewatch. I couldn't help but rewatch the 4th Quarter of the 2016 NBA Finals ... "OHHH BLOCKED BY JAMES!!"
The Last Dance: The Untold Story of Michael Jordan and the Bulls
Speaking of basketball, I am fired up for this 10-part series that premiers tonight at 9 ET on ESPN. The Bulls granted a camera crew unprecedented access to chronicle every moment of Michael Jordan’s last season as a Bull. 23 years later, they’re publishing the footage. Quite a savvy move by ESPN to move up the premier from July to April to fill the current sports void.
In this tweet thread, I dive into the difference between passive and active voice. The difference is more complex than the example in this tweet; once you see how passive other's writing is, you can't unsee it.
Someone get this kid a contract.
